Howdy doo Garden Gals and Guys! Welcome back to Fat Earth! I guess you might be wondering what the title of this post means. Well, I’ve been weighing my produce as I harvested to keep track of how much food I grow. Yesterday, after my latest harvest I decided to tally the numbers. So far this summer, I have harvested 39.8 pounds of food! That’s awesome! That number may seem small when compared to other gardeners and farmers, but considering the crop failures I have had this year, that’s a pretty decent number….AND….I still have my future harvests of my fall garden to add to this number.
Needless to say, I’m pretty excited…and pretty darn proud of myself! Yep. I’m a happy farmer!
Here is my latest harvest from yesterday. First up, a pound of collards! Yummy!
Yay! So glad to see you harvesting from your garden 🙂 Keep up the good work!
Such an awesome idea to keep your poundage recorded! Can I steal this idea too for my next growing season? Also…I was thinking about trying some greens in my garden once the 'mater's have finished up. What do you think? Yes? No? Remember, I am in Tennessee. Spinach is my favorite green. Lettuce…not so much. What to do, what to do….
Thanks, Blake!!
PJ…lots of gardeners weigh their harvest so feel free to do the same! Definitely grow spinach. In fact, you can start some seeds now to have a nice fall harvest. Spinach is a cool season crop…in fact the frost tends to make it a little sweeter. Start those seeds now and you will have a nice late September harvest!!!!
